Does Your Website Bring You Clients? 5 Checks in 10 Minutes

You paid for a website, it's live, and people can find it. But is it actually bringing you clients? You don't need an agency or special tools to get a first answer. These five website checks take about ten minutes, and all you need is your phone.
Why the phone? Google says it uses the mobile version of a site's content for indexing and ranking. So the version of your site on a small screen isn't a "nice to have". It's the one that counts.

Grab your phone, open your website as if you were a new customer, and go through the list.
The 5 website checks
1. The "what do you do?" test
Open your homepage and don't scroll. Ask yourself: would a stranger understand what you do, who it's for and where you work?
If the first thing people see is "Welcome to our website", a big photo with no text, or a slogan that could fit any business, visitors have to work to understand you. Most won't bother.
Quick fix: one clear sentence at the top. For example: "Family dental clinic in Valencia. Same-week appointments." Plain words beat clever ones.
2. One clear next step
What do you want a visitor to do: call, send a message, book, ask for a quote? Now look at your homepage on your phone. Can they do it with one tap, without hunting through menus?
Tap the button yourself. Does the phone number dial? Does the WhatsApp or booking link open? Broken buttons are more common than you'd think, and nobody tells you when they stop working.
Quick fix: one main button, visible straight away, with an action word: "Book a visit", "Call us", "Get a quote".
3. The contact form test
This one takes two minutes and can save you a lot of lost leads. Fill in your own contact form and send it.
Did the message arrive?
How long did it take?
Did it land in spam?
Did the person filling it in get a confirmation?
A form that quietly fails is one of the easiest ways to lose a client without ever knowing they existed.
Quick fix: make sure form messages go to an inbox someone checks every day, and send yourself a test every month.
4. How you look on Google
Search for your business name and your city on your phone. What shows up?
Check your Google Business Profile: is the address right, are the opening hours up to date, does the website link work, is the business category correct? Google's own help page says businesses with complete and accurate information are more likely to show up in local search results.
Quick fix: update your hours (including holidays), add real photos and reply to your latest reviews.
5. Proof and freshness
Scroll through the rest of your site and look for signs of life and trust:
Are there real reviews or testimonials?
Are the photos of your actual team, place and work?
Is anything clearly out of date: a "latest news" from years ago, an expired offer, an old phone number or team member who left?
Out-of-date details make visitors wonder whether you're still open. Real proof makes them more comfortable getting in touch.
Quick fix: remove anything old, add two or three genuine reviews (with permission) and a photo of the people customers will actually meet.
What to do with the results
If you answered "yes" to all five website checks, great: your site is doing its basic job. If you found one or two problems, start with the contact form and the main button. Those are usually the quickest fixes and they sit closest to a new enquiry.
If you found more than that, don't worry. Most of these are small changes, not a full redesign. Write them down, fix one a week and repeat the checks next month.
Quick answers
Do I need to check on a computer too? Yes, but start with the phone. That's the version Google mainly looks at, and it's where small problems show up first.
How often should I do these checks? Once a month is a good habit, and always after any change to your site, your phone number or your opening hours.
Do I need a new website to fix these? Usually not. Clear text, a working button, a tested form and an up-to-date profile can make a big difference on the site you already have.
